Replication Section

As of the start of 2018, the journal Cogent Economics and Finance is introducing a replication section. Cogent Economics and Finance is an open access journal publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research. It is indexed in Scopus, Web of Science’s Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), and has a B rating in the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) ranking.

Economics has become an empirical discipline. Applied econometrics has replaced mathematical economics in all but a few niche journals, and economists are collecting primary data again. But publication practices are lagging behind. Replication of a theoretical paper has never been an issue. You get out your pencil and paper and work through the proof of this or that theorem.
