Abstract

The goal of science is to accumulate knowledge about nature. There are scientific values guiding how scientists should work, and scientific practices guiding how scientists do work. This course will examine the discrepancy between scientific values and scientific practices. What are the ordinary daily practices of scientists ,laboratories, and disciplines that deviate from scientific values? Why are they different What can, and should, be done about it We will develop and implement strategies to improve alignment between our own scientific values and practices.
